SpinLash is a new cool new product from the cosmetics company Akasha. It is the first mascara of its kind to be actually motorized. The brush is battery operated to spin 360 degrees continuously while you apply your mascara. It claims that the rotational movement of the brush allows for mascara to be applied while lifting away clumps and separating your lashes; thus eliminating the need for eyelash combs and curlers. The product comes with the spinning head wand and a tube of mascara that attaches to the wand and is available in two colors: blackish-brown and black.

So how does the product fair?
The best thing about SpinLash is that it actually works! The spinning motion is really effective in preventing clumps and building full lashes. I really liked that the brush itself is made of a synthetic, rubbery material so that ensures that the bristles won’t clump and allow mascara to goop up in them like many traditional mascara wands. The result of using the SpinLash with the SpinLash black mascara was neatly defined lashes that wouldn’t clump up. A great advantage to SpinLash is that you really don’t need to use an eyelash comb after applying which always leaves mascara flakes all over my face. The mascara itself also comes off easily with simple soap and water. Plus, you can use the wand in any brand of mascara; so that if you have found one that you are obsessively loyal to you can still use the SpinLash brush with it and receive the same benefits.
Some disadvantages to the product are that using the spinning wand is a technique that might take a little time to master. Because it is a motorized device which is something you are probably not used to putting near your eye, you will probably need a little while to get totally comfortable with it. I know that when I first tried it out I was a little weary about how fast the brush would spin and concerned I might get it all twisted up in my lashes. However, once I turned it on I saw that it spins at a very moderate and steady pace that is not at all intimidating. And, after a few uses I have pretty much mastered it and really like the product.
