Razor Sharp Ultra Definition Finishing Powder

Another new product in the Spring lineup from Urban Decay is the Razor Sharp Ultra Definition Finishing Powder.  These types of finishing or “high-definition” powders have been popping up everywhere lately.  Originally these finishing powders were designed for television and movie actors.  There are meant to give the skin a soft and almost ‘blurry’ finish under even the harshest fluorescent and overhead lights.  Urban’s Razor Sharp comes in a small glass tub with images razor blades on the side…typical Urban-edgy style.  It’s a superfine powder that goes on seamlessly and won’t settle into fine lines or crease.

You have 3 options for applying the powder depending on how you prefer to wear makeup:

1) wear it by itself,
2) under foundation, or
3) over foundation.

If you have pretty decent looking skin to begin with you could definitely get away with wearing this alone.  But if you have some flaws like acne or scaring you can also use it over foundation to create a soft, flawless and finished look.

Another great aspect about Urban’s finishing powder is that it’s not ghostly white like many of the traditional HD finishing powders.  Razor Sharp is a nude color and I think would blend very well with pale to medium skin tones.  I’m not sure how it would look on darker tones though, haven’t tried that yet.

The only thing I didn’t really like about Razor Sharp is the packaging, it was a little difficult to get the powder out and I ended up making a bit of a mess.  Even though it comes with it’s own powder puff, I chose to use my own brush even just because I think you have better control over the application with a always brush instead of a puff.

All in all I think this is a fantastic finishing powder. It does its job of creating a soft photo finish which we all dream of.  Although, I wouldn’t say it is something I couldn’t live without on a daily basis, but I sure would want it if I was going to have my photo taken or for any special occasion like a wedding or big party.
